"Art in the Garden" Garden Tour and Plein Air Painting Saturday, April 24 & Sunday, April 25, 2010 Party/Auction on Sunday, April 25, 4:30 p.m. Mint Museum of Art, 2730 Randolph Road Presented by the Charlotte Garden Club, an affiliate of the Mint Museum of Art The Charlotte Garden Club is proud to present a weekend of gardens, art and festivities. Relying upon the beauty of spring gardens, artists will set up their easels and paint "en plein air", capturing on canvas the serene beauty of the unique southern garden. Following the two days of relaxed garden strolling, join the celebratory Party and Auction on Sunday evening at the Mint Museum of Art on Randolph Road. Your one ticket includes touring six unique gardens with artists painting "en plein air" and the event on Sunday evening. The tickets are $15 in advance for members of the Mint Museum and Charlotte Garden Club, $20 in advance for non-members. The ticket price includes the Sunday party/auction. Featured gardens are: Ginger Kemp (301 Eastover Rd. 28207), Ingrid and Walter Steele (2115 Foxcroft Woods Ln. 28211), Vaughan and Don Justice (3701 Columbine Circle 28211), Sharon and Steve Hockfield (5819 McAlpine Farm Rd. 28226), the Elizabeth Lawrence Garden (348 Ridgewood Ave. 28209) and Wing Haven (248 Ridgewood Ave. 28209). Sponsorships are available at four levels of giving: "Michelangelo level" - $1000 (1 Ivey membership to CGC + 6 tour tickets; $220 cash value, $780 tax deductible), "Van Gogh level" - $500 (1 individual membership to CGC + 6 tour tickets; $155 cash value, $345 tax deductible), "Picasso level" - $250 (4 tour tickets; $80 cash value, $170 tax deductible), and "Warhol level" - $100 (2 tour tickets; $40 cash value, $60 tax deductible). Hours are from 10 - 4 p.m. on Sat., April 24 and 1 - 4 p.m. on Sun., April 25. Party at the MMA begins at 4:30 p.m. Sun. April 25 with an art auction by our garden plein air artists, drinks, refreshments and music. Proceeds benefit the Mint Museum of Art and the Charlotte Garden Club. After the Tour begins, tickets are $20 for members of the Mint Museum of Art and Charlotte Garden Club, $25 for non-members.
